On June 24 & 25, 2017 I rode an excursion train behind the S.P. 4449 from Portland Or to Bend OR and return. The excursion ran on the BNSF (Spokane, Portland & Seattle Railway) from Portland to Wishram WA through the Columbia River Gorge. We crossed the Columbia River at Wishram and followed the Deschutes River to Bend OR on the BNSF (Oregon Trunk Railroad).
