These photos were taken on June 3 - 5, 2011. This was a round trip excursion from Emeryville via Oroville, CA and Klamath Falls OR. We over nighted in Oroville and Klamath Falls. The portion from Emeryville to Oroville was on the Union Pacific route via Davis and Sacramento and then on the old Western Pacific line to Oroville. The Oroville to Klamath Falls section covered the old Western Pacific Feather River line to Keddie and then up the Inside Gateway to Klamath Falls. There is no regular passenger service on this line so it is a treat when you can ride on it via some special train. This line was built by the Great Northern RR and The Western Pacific. It is now a BNSF line. The portion from Klamath Falls back to Emeryville covers the same route as the Amtrak Coast Starlight except that the Starlight does most of it at night. This excursion allowed you to see the route in the daytime.
